Super-charging lithium batteries soon?

According to the BBC News site, there's a new way of making lithium batteries that could allow them to charge 18 times faster.

There's a lot of science talk involving ions moving and the capacity of thing, but essentially, boffins at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US have discovered that using a slightly different variant of lithium results in a material that charged a battery in 20 seconds, compared to six minutes of the usual lithium battery.

Assume your current phone takes around an hour to charge; that would mean with new batteries, it could charge in under four minutes.
