Acer is reported to be examining the possibility of opening its own App store.
Acer's senior corporate vice president and smart handheld president, Aymar de Lencquesaing, declared that Acer is looking at the viability of an App store, which would be accessible from its recently announced new smartphone devices.
No final decision has been made regarding the official launch of such a site, according to the Mobile Entertainment website, however the ruminations from Acer are likely to follow the progress made by the likes of BlackBerry, Nokia and Samsung - all of whom have been attempting to find a similar sort of success that has been enjoyed by Apple, the company which sparked the current interest in Apps.
However, since all of the forthcoming Acer smartphones are based on the Windows Mobile operating system, there could be a clash between a possible Acer site and the forthcoming Windows Mobile App site which is currently in a beta format.
