i-mate has revealed an intriguing laptop/smartphone concept. The Warrior is a new laptop ‘shell' which asks you to insert a smartphone below the keyboard module which then acts as a touchpad. Designed for users on the move, the idea is to use the Warrior as a form of ‘dock'.
Reports say that the dock, which should retail for around $200, features a 10in screen displaying images at XVGA resolution. It has its own dedicated battery supply and a SD card reader which replaces the hard disk. There are a variety of ports on offer too, which, says the Pocket-lin website, will include a HDMI socket.
The power behind the dock and the other half of the dual module concept is the Legionnaire a mobile handset that is slated to run on Windows Mobile 6.5. Other features revealed for the new handset include HSDPA for fast data transfer, Wi-Fi, GPS for location finding, Bluetooth and a microSD card for memory expansion.
The end of Summer is the speculative release date. However.a UK price has yet to be announced.
