Eee Phone to be released by Garmin-Asus

The Eee Phone from computer guys Asus will be released by the new Garmin-Asus handset manufacturing team.

The low-cost smartphone's release was announced last month, and will probably capitalise on the popularity of low-cost laptops (a.k.a. netbooks), which Asus is also good at.

Rumours were afoot that the Eee Phone would run Android, but no confirmation has been received as yet. However, both companies have said their handsets will use ‘a variety' of operating systems, and the recently announced Garmin-Asus nüvifones G60 and M20 both run Windows Mobile...

This is the third Garmin-Asus announcement in the last month. What are they trying to be, Sony E?
