A queue had formed around the block when Nokia's Regent Street flagship store opened its doors this morning. The reason being the sale of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia's first ever touch-screen device. Some keen shoppers had even brought their sleeping bags and set up camp outside the store in anticipation, despite the torrid weather conditions. Once inside the store, customers were treated to George Sampson, winner of Britain's Got Talent, performing his energetic dance moves.
Nokia had given the extra incentive of providing the first 200 customers who bought the handset exclusive content embedded in the device. This included a range of applications such as Sports Tracker, Touch Guitar, Touch Piano and Guitar Rock Tour, along with an array of short films. In addition, the first 100 customers each received a pair of tickets to Spain's summer music festival Benicassim. When we spoke to Nokia at 11.20am they confirmed that 200 customers had already purchased the device.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, dubbed the "Tube" is also available from the Nokia store at Heathrow Terminal 5 and from Nokia's online store.
