An Mformation survey of UK and US consumers finds that 95% of mobile users would use more data services if setup were easier, while two-thirds find setting up a phone as frustrating as changing a bank account.
Meanwhile, complex setup issues prevent 45% of people from upgrading to more advanced mobile phones, with 78% adding they would change handsets more frequently if setting up wasn't so darn tough.
Advanced services like sat-nav and third-party applications cause even more headaches, with 88% saying they would use these services more if setup were less painful. Even basic services like email, web-browsing and instant messaging often didn't work, leading to 61% to have stopped using mobile apps because they can't solve the problems.
