Sony Refuses To License a Playstation Phone

First there's going to be a PSP Phone. Then there isn't. Then there is, definitely for sure this time. Now there might be one, but it's not going to have the PlayStation name attached.

Apparently Sony has refused Sony Ericsson the right to call their potential gaming phone a Playstation phone, due to the fact that "technical specs are not high enough to put such a prestigious brand on a phone", according to a Sony Ericsson spokeswoman.

Sony Ericsson has had great success with its other Sony-branded handsets - notably its Cybershot camera-phone series and Walkman music phones - and had been planning to capitalise on the expanding mobile gaming market with the PSP-Phone.

The Sony Ericsson spokeswoman said that the company would look at PlayStation ‘in the future'.
