Megapixel war, ho! Sharp has announced a 12-megapixel sensor for camera phones available to manufacturers from February. The sensor may even be available for full-scale production by the end of March.
The news follows on the heels of Sony's announcement last November of its own ostentatiously high-res sensor for mobiles, which means we'll probably be seeing some cam-phones with resolutions in the double digits very, very soon.
Looks like these may be the last days of trusty point-and-shoot cam too...
