GSMArena has run a story claiming that HTC plans to bring out a new Google Android phone. The ‘G2' codename ‘Hero', according to Chinese-based website http://www.diypda.com/, will be available in the coming months. However, whereas the T-Mobile G1, the first Google Android device, sports both a touch-screen and a full QWERTY keyboard, the Hero looks as though it will be operated fully via a touch-screen. Looking at the press shots, apart from the garish pink, it does look remarkably like a thinner version of the original.
The T-Mobile G1 is the first handset to have access to the Google Android platform, a fully open application market. Users can download any number of applications for free, while anyone with the technical know how can make such an application available.
