A new protective case designed to be used with the Apple iPhone 3G mobile phone, made from leather, features a solar power addition. The principle power option for the new case is a lithium ion battery.
According to the TAUW website, there is also an LED status indicator that informs you of the capacity of the case's battery pack when charging and discharging. Of course, when the iPhone is empty, you can place the unit onto direct charge to refill the battery. However, you also have the opportunity to flick over to the solar power panel and recharge the iPhone from the sun itself. This does, however, take a wee bit longer than a direct charge from a socket - 12 hours from the sun as opposed to 3 hours from via the direct route. Longer, of course, in this sort of weather found at this time of year.
