The beta version of the popular media player, SlingPlayer, is almost completed for the Blackberry platform. A working beta version is, in fact, targeted for release on the 30th of this month.
The application is targeted at the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Pearl 8120, 8220 and 8820 and the BlackBerry Curve 8320 and 8900. SlingPlayer Mobile, as this variant is entitled, allows the latter BlackBerry users to both control and watch programmes on their home TV and DVR (such as a Sky box) via their Slingbox on their BlackBerry handset.
The company recommends that you also include a WiFi connection or 3G to enhance the smooth transfer of media data which is traditionally the most intensive of all data currently transferred as it features both high quality video pictures and sound. In addition, the company recommends the use of a PC on a home network with SlingpPlayer 2.0 for Windows installed within. The Blackberry, in addition, should have version 4.5 of the current operating system.
