Vodafone has joined O2 in offering a pay as you use mobile broadband package. For £39 customers can get the TopUP and Go modem which will include £15 worth of credit which equates to 1GB of data. Vodafone claims 1GB of data will provide around 30 hours of surfing the web, or 650 sent emails, or up to 65 downloaded music tracks or video clips. Any remaining data not used will carry over unlike O2's prepay broadband service, which expires after 30 days, although their overall package works out to be cheaper.
Vodafone's TopUP and Go modem is capable of speeds of up to 3.6Mps, though the operator concedes that customers are more likely to experience average speeds of between one to two Mbps. In addition, the modem can also be used as a 4GB USB memory stick.
