O2 customers can now make calls, send texts and access the internet when travelling underground on the Glasgow Subway. However, customers will only be able to do so when on the Subway platform rather than on the actual train. This service is now available to all O2 customers following a successful trial that was first launched in September. O2 is the first operator to use a multi-user distributed antenna system that makes it possible to use mobile phones underground.
As a means of marking the occasion, O2 has sent a team of eight ‘angels' to give away 2,000 subway tickets at five of Glasgow's busiest stations – Buchanan Street, St Enoch, Partick, Hillhead and Govan.
