Android applications unveiled

With the launch of the T-Mobile G1, the UK's first mobile phone to operate on the Android market only a week away, the operator has divulged a shortlist of fifty applications that will be available to download immediately for free. Ranging from a barcode scanner to provide the best available product prices to a local information service that uses the phones onboard GPS functionality to provide information from Wikipedia, there's plenty on offer. Other gems include Cooking Capsules and Cocktail! which uses the internet to scour the web to provide recipes and contents for meals and cocktails based on the contents of your kitchen and drinks cabinet, while SplashPlay will teach you how to play the guitar by streaming video over the web.
