Sony Ericsson has announced plans for an unlimited mobile music service that will provide customers with access to millions of tracks. Users of PlayNow plus will be able to discover, download, play and recommend music direct from their handset. Powered by Omnifone, tracks will be easily transferred between your PC and mobile, with the touch of a button, cancelling out the need for any cables or wires. What's more, by the end of your contract, PlayNow plus will determine your most played tracks allowing you to keep them and play them on any compatible MP3 player. Those on a six month contract will be able to keep their 100 most played, twelve month contracts will be entitled to 200 and an 18 month 300. Users will also be able to create profiles, recommend music to other users as well as keep up to date with the latest news on your favourite artists.
PlayNow plus will first be seen on the Sony Ericsson W902, the first Walkman handset to features a five-megapixel camera, complete with autofocus, along with 8GB of storage capacity and HSDPA data speeds. The W902 is expected to go on sale during October although no set date has yet been confirmed.
