The compact HTC Touch, which was well received as a compact Pocket PC, is reported to be undergoing a rebranding excersise along with technical improvements, as the HTC Opal.
Observers say that the HTC Touch will have the TouchFLO 3D software interface added to it as well as an extended colour pallete. The final re-design is likely to be given a new name.
The new handset is likely to also include the Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 operating system but with the same TI OMAP 850 chip running at 200Mhz. The phone is believed to also feature quad-band GPRS / EDGE. No reports have been received about any form of 3G being included. A built in camera is also supposed to be included. However, the specification is likely to be a fairly lowly 2MP, according to the Smarthmobile Gadgets website.
No release date or price has yet been announced.
