The FCC, the organisation that tests all new mobile phones prior to their release onto the American market, has revealed details of a new Samsung handset. Designed to be a rugged mobile phone, the A837 is based on a clamshell chassis design. A dual-band GSM/EDGE 850/1900 phone, it also supports WCDMA 3G.
Reports from the Phone Scoop website say that the handset also sports a built-in camera. However, the word is that the specification is rather low at just 1.3 megapixels. Expansion for both music and video is available via a fitted microSD slot but it's not known what the capacity is. Further expansion is available via a Bluetooth 2.0 facility with support for A2DP stereo Bluetooth.
Observers say that the phone will support push to talk - a sort of walkie-talkie feature that allows you to talk to designated friends in an Instant Messenger fashion.
