After carrying the rumour story this morning, Palm has now confirmed the launch of its new smartphone. The new Palm Treo Pro boasts a full QWERTY keyboard and a touch-screen. Operating on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, Palm promises that the Treo Pro will be one of the simplest smartphones to use with a host of shortcut keys.Users will be able to access a Wi-Fi connection, along with their emails and calendar with one-touch buttons. In addition, they will be able to search the web straight from their home screen, have access to a two-megapixel camera, and Palm has included its ringer switch that is able to silence any incoming calls or alarm. With built-in GPS, users will be able to access maps, see turn-by-turn directions along with a host of points of interest.
The Palm Treo Pro is available from September free on contract from Vodafone and through O2 direct sales and online business stores. Palm will also be selling the device unlocked through its online store and selected web, retail and enterprise outlets with a suggested retail price of £399 (Inc VAT).
