Orange unsignedAct (formerly known as mobileAct Unsigned) is back on Channel 4 for a second series. Apart from the change in name the format is pretty much the same as the first series, with an open audition geared towards finding Britain's most talented bands and singer-songwriters who write and perform their own material. Judged by Radio 1 presenter Jo Whiley, Blur bassist Alex James and head of A & M Records Simon Gavin, the winning act will be rewarded with a recording contract with Universal Records.
Starting in autumn, the show will be screened on T4 and Channel 4's new music channel 4music, and fans of the show will be able to gain 24-hour access to behind-the-scenes news and gossip at www.orangeunsignedact.co.uk. Bands can begin to upload their tracks and photos to the Orange unsignedAct website (www.orangeunsignedact.co.uk) for the next three weeks before a shortlist of 50 will be made.
