Samsung announces forthcoming release of new Messenger mobile phone

Samsung has announced the release of its new mid-range mobile phone, the SCH-R450 Messenger. Aimed at users who find that text inputting is their primary mobile task, the new handset comes complete with a full QWERTY, slide-out keyboard. SMS, MMS and instant messaging should be an easy job with this addition.

According to the Mobile Burn website, other features include a 2.1in colour screen that displays 262k colours. It also packs in 176 x 220 pixels. A camera is reported to be included, although observers say that it is not rated beyond 1.3MP. External memory expansion is included with the addition of a microSD card slot providing up to 2GB storage for music, images, video and the like. Other external connections are possible with the stereo Bluetooth slot. The handset also includes voice recognition, a speakerphone and a MP3 player. The chassis measures 4.4" x 2.0" x 0.7".
