New Motorola boss has 90 days to turn around company

Sanjay Jha is the new co-CEO of Motorola Inc, after leaving Qualcomm. He has been given the task of turning around the fortunes of the company and promises to do that in 90 days. Although even he will need a bit of help, "You'll see me make some strategic hires in areas where I don't have experience," Jha said in the course of a brief presentation to analysts and media this morning with co-CEO Greg Brown.

Jha is currently working on a range of new mobile phones but he explained that it will take a year for these to hit the market.

According tio the RCR News website, the new co-chief exectuve, when asked about the current diversity of mobile phones within the Motorola catalogue, replied that he was happy with the range on sale today but that he'd review the list soon to see if a reduction of the list is necessary. It's even possible that some of the proposed handsets due for release might not make it to market. Everything's up for change, it appears.
