LG is set to raise the bar for audio quality on mobile handsets, with the announcement that it is to introduce Dolby Mobile into its high-end handsets. Dolby is a global leader in entertainment technology and LG is looking to make the most of its expertise when it comes to audio technology.
Features that look set to become common place in LG phones include Mobile Surround, delivering a surround-sound experience even when using headphones; Natural bass; High Frequency Enhancer; and Graphic EQ, which deciphers what audio experience is best suited for different content types. The Dolby Mobile technology will also be able to level out audio for a more consistent playback volume, and users will be guaranteed improved playback quality for user-generated content such as video and voice recordings.
Dolby Mobile technology looks set to be incorporated in LG's high-end multimedia phones from Q4 2008.
