Atos Origin has revealed a new mobile ticket system for the Heathrow Express. This means that you can have your train ticket sent direct to your mobile phone or PDA. The intention, of course, is to reduce queues and general waiting time.
According to the Slashphone website, the system, known as AVANTIXMetro, allows you to book your journey online, via the Heathrow Express website. When booking on the website, you actually have a choice of have the ticket sent to your mobile phone or a self-print ticket. You can still buy paper tickets from the train manager.
George Fripp, Heathrow Express international corporate account manager commented that, "Most of our customers are incredibly busy professionals that use our service because it's the most convenient way to get to and from Heathrow Airport in just 15 minutes. E-ticketing builds on that by taking the hassle out of booking journeys and making their travel even more seamless. All you need to do is book, board the train and go. It's as simple as that."
