The new Samsung GT-B2700 candybar-style mobile phone is a ruggedized design that is both resistant to water and dust. It is interesting to see Samsung, a more popularist company, tackle this sector of the market which, until now, has traditionally been the domain of specialist manufacturers.
The first in a new line of ‘GT' monickered handsets, the new release is a quad-band design with a 1.9in screen and a 176 x 220 pixel resolution. For external connection, the Samsung model includes Bluetooth 2.0 and microSD which can feature up to 4Gb of external memory. Entertainment is derived from a FM radio plus RDS plus a music player and, interestingly, a built-in compass and altimeter.
No UK price has been designated for the new phone but Samsung has quoted a European price of 210 Euros. The handset is due for release sometime during the Summer.
