The Polaroid PoGo, which is short for Polaroid-on-the-go connects to your mobile phone via Bluetooth or USB and creates full colour digital photos without the need for ink cartidges or ribbons.
Polaroid says the photos print in 60 seconds and - unlike the old Polaroid photos which you had to shake dry - the PoGo's photos are instantly dry to the touch.
The PoGo, which weights 8 ounces and can be held in the hand, employs Zink Zero Ink printing technology. Rather than housing an ink cartridge in the printer, the new PoGo will print photos on a unique composite paper that houses cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals in a protective coat. The millions of crystals embedded in the paper are colourless before printing, but are brought to life with a clever heat activation process. Polaroid says that the technology has been a decade in the making and photos print in less time than the original Polaroids.
The Polaroid PoGo is now on sale at PC World, selected Currys and John Lewis stores, Play.com and Amazon.com.
