iPhone price to fall to £100 in UK?

There are strong indications that Apple will reduce the price of the iPhone to just £100 in a month's time - down from the introductory price of £269. According to observers, the price reduction is being mooted because the new 3G version of the iPhone is expected to be announced in just 5 days time, at the the company's Worldwide Developers' Conference in San Francisco , USA.

Interviewed by the Daily Telegraph, Ben Wood, an analyst for CCS Insight, the company providing analysis and intelligence on the mobile and wireless sector, said that, "They [Apple] are looking for more flexibility on how the operators can price the iPhone, although I am not convinced that they will let them have open season on the price, as they have lucrative iPod market to protect,"

Changes in both price and other mooted marketing changes such as ending country-by-country exclusivity (such as O2 in the UK) look to be on Apple's agenda in an effort to increase world-wide sales.
