T-Mobile offers free album downloads

T-Mobile's album download service will be available to T-Mobile's prepay and pay monthly customers, who will be able to access the service on over 50 handsets.

To kick start the service, T-Mobile is also offering a free album download when customers join, renew or upgrade their contract. The offer is available in T-Mobile stores and online between 2 June and 31 July.

As with singles from Mobile Jukebox, T-Mobile says the albums will all be dual download, so one will be sent to the phone in compressed AAC format and another to the PC in WMA format. Mobile Jukebox can currently offer customers a choice of 100,000 album downloads and 1.2 million singles. Artists available include Coldplay and the Ting Tings.

Recent stats from the Official UK Charts Company show that digital album sales climbed by 69.3% between January to March 2008.
