Flash memory developers SanDisk has launched a range of memory cards with 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities. The announcement is good news for consumers that use their mobile phones to store media content such as music, videos, photos, games and maps. The SanDisk Mobile Ultra range comes in three variants. A 2GB microSD card is available, and the more equipped microSDHC cards are available in 4GB and 8GB capacities, though these will only be compatible with the latest high-end handsets. For Sony Ericsson users, Memory Stick Micro M2 cards are available with 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacity levels.
SanDisk claims their new premium cards will provide fast side-loading speeds, meaning accelerated transfer rates of digital files to and from their mobile memory card and their computer. In addition each of the SanDisk Mobile Ultra range comes bundled with a MobileMate Micro Reader that can be plugged directly into a USB 2.0 port providing an alternative method of transporting and managing your digital content.
The suggested retail price for the SanDisk Mobile Ultra range runs from £14.99 to £59.99 (including VAT) and will be available at various retail outlets from mid-to-late June.
