Samsung launches first TV phone for Europe

The Samsung P960 is a broadcast TV phone which works in much the same way as a digital TV, and offers a 2.6ins QVGA TFT screen and features an Electronic Service Guide and an on-screen TV Guide.

Other nifty features include picture in picture (PIP), which enables users to watch two channels at once and a time shifting feature that shifts TV programme schedules when a show is interrupted by a call.

Samsung claims that the P960 is the first DVB-H mobile TV phone to support both of Europe's mobile TV standards, DVB-CBMS and OMA-BCAST. DVB-CBMS is currently available in Italy through H3G, TI and Vodafone and will soon be available in France, Belgium, Poland and Russia. Meanwhile, OMA-BCAST will soon be available in the Netherlands and later in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

In addition to its broadcast TV capabilities, the Samsung P960 also offers a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data speeds, a music player with Music Library feature and codec support, an FM radio and Bang and Olufsen ICE power audio technology. The slider phone measures 102x 53x 16.7mm.
