Nokia has announced that they are to distribute KONAMI games on their N-Gage gaming platform. It's a major coup by Nokia with KONAMI being one of the big players in the gaming world. The first game to be launched is a mobile version of the award-winning Metal Gear Solid which sees you take control of a Special Forces Operative. Built specifically for the mobile platform, Metal Gear Solid Mobile features never-before-seen footage, including 3D art displays and camera work. In addition, what must be a mobile gaming first, the in-game camouflage system uses colour samples from the scenery of the real world captured by the handset's camera.
Owners of a Nokia N95, N81 and N82 all have access to N-Gage with it either being preinstalled or by downloading the software from the N-Gage website. Nokia recently announced they expect 60 gaming titles to be available on N-Gage by 2009, with most titles costing between £6-8.
