Vodafone purchases ZYB
Operator takes control of mobile service that backs up and shares handsets' contact and calendar information

Vodafone is enhancing its communications service with the purchase of social networking site, ZYB. ZYB is a free service that automatically updates its users' phonebook if other contacts change their numbers or address - though these contacts must also be ZYB members. It also works as a backup tool should you lose your phone. Other features include seeing where your contacts are and calendar sharing, making it easier to arrange team meetings and alike.

Members of ZYB can also use their PC to send messages and images to more than one mobile device for free, while an instant message service allows ZYB members to talk to each other in real time.

The Danish company has been brought for 31.5million Euros by Vodafone, though it is unknown at present how the deal will affect ZYB's current service, if at all. To sign up to ZYB for free, visit www.zyb.com.
