Philips M600 mobile phone targets music fans

The new Philips M600 mobile phone has been produced with music fans in mind. Top of the feature list is the built-in SRS WOW feature. This software addition reportedly enhances sound quality whilst also providing a virtual surround sound facility. In addition, it also purports to fool the brain into thinking that your measly MP3 sounds a lot better than it should by restoring the spatial cues within the file.

According to the Slashphone website, the M600 includes MP3 file hot keys for quick access to play and navigation and the handset comes complete with a set of ear canal earphones for increased sound quality.

Initially, the handset is aimed at the Chinese market but there are hopes that the mobile phone will eventually find its way to the UK. However, no release dates or price information have yet been disclosed. Other features include a 2in TFT screen, a 1.3MP camera, a microSD slot, a headset jack, GPRS and a USB port.
