Nokia offers cash for games

Nokia has launched the Mobile Games Innovation Challenge, a global games development competition with a cash prize of 70,000 euros (about £56,000).

The competition's aim is to encourage developers to come up with killer titles that can be playable on Nokia's Series 40, Series 60 and N-Gage compatible phones.

Nokia says, the three most innovative game concepts will be offered Nokia Publishing pre-production contracts, and a strong chance of the game launching on one of Nokia's device platforms. Meanwhile, the best of the concepts will be rewarded with 40,000 euros, the second best with 20,000 euros and the third placed concept will nab 10,000 euros.

Games developers can submit their games concepts online by going to the N-Gage website.

The deadline for entry is August 20 2008 and winners will be announced at the Nokia Summit in Rome, October 29-30 2008.
