New handset to improve child safety

Japanese manufacturer NTT DoCoMo, Inc. has built a new child-friendly 3G handset aimed at keeping concerned parents aware of their whereabouts. The FOMA F801i is fitted with an emergency alarm that is easily activated and will then produce a 100-decibel-alarm. As well as producing a high-intensity LED light, the phone is also programmed to alert parents that the alarm has been activated.
The handset also houses a button on the side of the phone that once pressed will discreetly message the child's location to registered numbers. Further features include the facility that when the phone is switched off, it can be preset to automatically switch back on within five minutes as well as message the incident to a registered number. With an additional waterproof bracelet that beeps continuously if the child wanders over 10 meters away from the phone, parents should be able to worry at least a little less.
