3GSM: RIM introduce new BlackBerry 8800

After flirting with the mainstream with the more consumer friendly Pearl 8100, RIM has returned to its business roots with its most powerful BlackBerry yet, the 8800. It also ranks as it thinnest BlackBerry device ever to fit the palms of business types, suggesting style and design is still at the forefront of RIM's aspirations. Another first sees the 8800 pack in-built GPS that works with BlackBerry's own maps and software.

RIM has also included some of the Pearl's traits into the new 8800, including the trackball navigation, microSD card slot for storage and multimedia player to spin your tunes and videos. The 8800 still hasn't taken the leap to 3G, so its business as usual with EDGE and quad-band capabilities plus a QVGA-quality landscape display, a full QWERTY keyboard, as well as its legendary push email feature. The BlackBerry 8800 should be available on selected worldwide networks later this month.
