With the Motorola Moto G2 tipped to arrive on 10 September, we’ve decided to pitch its vital statistics against those of the original G, a handset we loved for its quality build, good screen and above all else, a bargain price.
UPDATE: Minutes after this article was published Motorola sent out invitations to a media event in Chicago on 4 September. The invitation includes sketches of handsets with G and X written on them, plus a watch - we fully expect to see new versions of the Moto X and Moto G, and more information on the Moto 360 smartwatch.
Now it sounds like Motorola is about to perform the same trick for a second time - only with an increased screen size, a better rear camera and, we hope, a guaranteed pass to Android L, Google’s upcoming mobile OS update.
It's a little strange for Motoroa to be hosting a media event in the US on 4 September, as the IFA technology trade show kicks off in Berlin a day earlier and is where new phones are expected from Samsung, Sony, LG, Huawei and more.
IFA 2014 Preview: Everything you need to know
We might still see the new products at IFA - and if so, Mobile Choice will be sure to bring you our hands-on first impressions of everything announced by Motorola.
For now, however, we can all look forward to the prospect of Motorola sticking to what it’s doing best, and producing an affordable phone with great build quality and an unmodified version of Android.
